Sydney & Louisburg Railway Nova Scotia Coal DVD Click to enlargeNote: Cover image may differ from actual product Coal was discovered on Cape Breton, NS, in the 1800's. To haul their product, the coal companies constructed a rail line to the Port of Sydney. However, the port froze over during the harsh winters. Thus, an extension was constructed to the all weather port of Louisbourg. Thus was born "The Sydney & Louisburg Railway". Note that the line anglicized the name of the port. With plentiful coal and lots of good, second hand locomotives, the line remained in steam. Fifty four minutes, all color, accurate sound, maps and narration. |
