Steamin' to Los Angeles 8444 4449 F-Units SP UP DVD
Union Pacific #8444 and Southern Pacific #4449 steam to the 50th Anniversary celebration of the Los Angeles Union Passenger Terminal to mark 50 years of service (1939-1989) to southern California!
Two VIP's, the Northerns of the UP and SP lent an air of nostalgia to the festivities by recreating the great days of passenger travel.
Experience the excitement as both of these giant steamers race toward Los Angeles. The 8444 made it's triumphant entry into southern California via the Mojave Desert and Cajon Pass. The 4449 traveled down the rugged California coast from Portland, Oregon.
We'll put you in the cab of the 4449 and you'll thrill as the 8444 barks up the grade to Cajon Pass.
This video also includes UP and SP E-units, freshly painted Santa Fe "Warbonnet" F-units, Amtrak and other locomotives that were part of the May 1989 50th Anniversary celebration.
