Steam to Sacramento 1991 DVD 5 of 5 (2)
Four of the largest steam locomotives attending Railfair '91 in Sacramento, California, arrived pulling special trains. Pentrex captured some fantastic images of steam at work as the engines headed for the exciting West Coast event.
Union Pacific 844 and the 3985 departed Cheyenne, Wyoming for California on April 15. Pentrex followed the entire route of these magnificent machines as they doubleheaded on their way west. Pentrex crews also captured Southern Pacific Daylight engine 4449 on its two-day trip from Portland, Oregon to Sacramento. The engine makes a magnificent sight as it works through the mountains of Oregon and California.
Experience the excitement as Southern Pacific 2472, a Pacific type engine, makes its first run following a lengthy restoration. Later, Southern Pacific engines 2472 and 4449 doubleheaded an excursion train to Oakland, California. That was the first time steam engines had double-headed on the Southern Pacific in many years.
