Railroading in any season is a challenge, but winter time with snow and cold really adds to it. Not only for the railway workers, but also for the rail fans. The elements of Mother Nature have a way of making life interesting. Living in a region where winter can easily be 5 months long, watching trains when cold and snow on the ground is a fact of life for the rail fan. Add in a steam train, and we have something that is truly beautiful to see.
In "Steam in the Winter", we are treated to 3 fascinating railroads that all put up a fine winter show for us to enjoy. 2 in the west, one in the east, gives us a nice variation in scenery, and a different prospective as to how railroads handle winter railroading with steam trains. You can see the cold in the air as the steam condenses fairly fast. The colour contrasts of the dark engines and the smoke are more apparent in the winter with the white back ground. This a very fine video that puts on a great show. Add in the excellent price, and it is truly a "must have" for all collections. If I had any complaint about this video, it would have to be that I had hoped to see more trains in the snow. Enjoy, it is excellent.
