Perhaps the most interesting of the recent crop of new North American light rail lines, this one pieces together old railroad rights-of-way with some new track. We start at the airport, on new elevated single track, the alongside an expressway to link up with the old Wabash right-of-way. Eventually that takes us close to the famous aged union station which we pass under in the former baggage tunnel. Snaking around buildings and an elevated expressway we then pass Bush stadium to run under downtown St. Louis in a former railroad tunnel. This then takes us to the historic Eads Bridge across the Mississippi into Illinois on an elevated structure and then down to the surface to end in East St. Louis. The weather was crisp and clear. Views from the famous arch are included.
