It's 1995, the last year for an independent Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway. Giant BNSF is still in the future, the Panhandle Sub is busy and we are there to see the action. We'll see lots of “bonnets” and famous Curtis Hill before the double-tracking.This sub stretches 205 miles from Waynoka, Oklahoma to Amarillo, Texas. Passenger stations in the Southwest style and grain elevators dot the line. This informative program is narrated, and many locations and trains are marked with on-screen captions. This program was shot using professional equipment of the time, but is not up to the clarity of today's high-definition video. It is however an excellent snapshot of an important time and place in the nation's railroad history.
