It is a really fun cab ride. The camera doesn't shake around, however, they should have turned off the auto exposure on the camera and put it on manual exposure. The train goes as far as Keddie but not on to William's Loop. But overall, you got a really great cab ride in store.

Excellent video. A cab ride like a cab ride should be, camera looking forward at the track and scenery, and long enough to capture all the action. I would like to see more cab ride videos like this.

The first review said it all. Coming out of the tunnels and the light change can get to you. A must have. Wish they did a section from Keddie to Portola to complete the video.

This is a spectacular DVD! For some reason I wasn't expecting much, but this turned out to be such a great video that I think it's become one of my favorites. Definitely TOP 5!
The camera is basically locked down for the entire trip and I can't quite figure out how it came out so steady. I don't know enough of the technical stuff, but I'm telling you it is ROCK STEADY the entire trip. Of course anyone who has visited the Feather River line knows that the rail line is top quality to begin with.
There is no narration and all you hear is the sound of the locomotive and a little bit of radio chatter in the background. The only cutting done was at long train meets. Everything else is continuously uncut. Tons of tunnels, and trestles and the magnificent Feather River Canyons.
As if this alone weren't enough, the arrival at Keddie Wye was kind of like the finale at a fireworks show. The entire DVD is from the cab until they got to Keddie and then showed cab view, plus about 4 outside views! Magnificently done. A++. This is a must have! You won't regret it.

Definitely one for the "watch when nothing else to watch" bracket. Very interesting subject matter but camera position not ideal and video quality poor compared to modern standards. Programme neede to be cab ride all the way along the route not just there and back again. Falls down on this aspect as do many cab rides the world over - viewer is interested in the ride all the way there and all the way back. Watch as a historical item of interest but pray for a Blu-ray High Definition shoot of the whole shebang.
