swan song fifteen year finale looks at the last runs of reading & northern pacific 425 before the locomotive was taken out of service for her 15 year inspection and overhaul the coverage starts with the autumn leaf exscursions on october 23rd and 24th of 2021 with the 425 taking a impressive train with the auxiliary tender the r&n's specially painted sd50's 5019 and 5018 and a impressive 18 car passenger train from reading to jim thorpe this was prior to when reading 2102 would return to operations the following year while 2102 had most of the attention the 425 operated a couple of times such as the doubleheader with the 2102 (covered in return of the iron horse rambles vol. 2) the 425 would operate one autumn leaf excursion on november 5th with 425 taking a 15 car train like the other 425 videos the november 5th trip includes trackside runbys and footage in the cab the last segment looks at the first weekend of the tamaqua christmas trains on december 3rd and 4th these would be the second to last trips before the 425 was taken out of service for her 15 year inspection (both weekends of the tamaqua christmas trains can be seen in 425 holiday trains by the late greg scholl) overall swan song fifteenth year finale is by far my favorite 425 video with coverage of the 2021/22 autuamn leaf excursions and the first weekend of the tamaqua christmas trains this is a perfect way to pay tribute to the 425 while she's down for her rebuilt inspection for now but hopefully the mighty blue pacific will roar through the mountains of pennsylvania again in the future
