In 1984 and 1985, we revisit the Appalachian region to view the busy operations of early CSX and Norfolk Southern.

Although many railroads of this area had merged into these two corporations by this time, operations still showed little in the way of change with the present varied paint schemes from the absorbed roads.

Only Norfolk Southern started showing their corporate identity during this period.

In this volume, we'll railfan the Rat Hole from Junction City, Kentucky to Harriman Junction, Tennessee and then head to the former L&N coal lines in the Corbin, Kentucky area.

We close with action on former N&W and SCL lines in Virginia from Shawsville to the Collier Yard area.

Subtitled; Color and original sound; approx 65 minutes.

I feel as if the previous reviewer and I were watching different dvd's. Given the date of this footage, I thought that the quality, color-clarity, and video technic was excellent. The dvd captures fallen flags from a by-gone era, with nice scenery, sound, and composition. Definitely 5 Stars in my book!

Not that great ! the DVD is taken from Super 8 not that that's the problem you cant go out and shot this stuff today, with that said most footage is real grainy has lines and other image quality problems running through most scenes. Camera work is ruff and shaky some scenes the photographer swings the camera back and fourth through the scene with ruff zooming in and out.
