In the San Juan Mountains of Colorado and New Mexico one can leave the 21st Century behind on a steam powered time machine: the Cumbres & Toltec Scenic Railroad.

Running on rails laid down in the 1880's, the Cumbres & Toltec is a living and breathing historical marvel of railroading the way it used to be. It operates over a remaining 64 mile section of the D&RGW's San Juan Extension between Chama, New Mexico and Antonito, Colorado.

This program covers many of the high points of this scenic route in summer and fall. Thrill to the sight and sound of vintage K-36 class steam locomotives climbing the 4% grade to the 10,015 foot summit of Cumbres Pass! Enjoy the impressive collection of beautifully restored passenger cars plus double headed photo freights. Step back to the year 1959 and watch never seen before footage of revenue freights moving over the line, including sections of the railroad that no longer exist!

This is your ticket to the longest and highest narrow gauge railroad in North America!

watched this a little while ago and one word fantastic over cumbres pass looks at the operations on the cumbres & toltec scenic railroad show casing the way the former denver and rio grande narrow gauge was in the past giving how things have changed the one thing i really appreciated that 7idea productions gave a look with vintage film and history how line looked like before becoming a tourist railroad there's lots of fantastic scenery during the operations in the summer and fall and one thing added is there's drone footage to showcase this railroad the video covers the railroad's train rides as well as a few photo fright charters (including the one in 2018 in honor of the 60th anniversary of the last fright train to operate on the line) all the action is done by railroad's the k-36 mikados (484,487,488,and 489) as well as k-27 mikado 463 and visiting c-18 consolidation 315 and rio grande southern galloping goose no.5 this is now probably another favorite video covering the c&ts and this year marks the 50th anniversary of the c&ts operations so this a great watch and nice little video to take the mind of the covid-19 situation i also bought the newly video steam and snow rotary oy on cumbres pass (covering the first tun of rotary oy's first run since 1997 that's the next video to watch) overall 7idea really surprised me with this one (much like the two videos on cp did and i bought more title's i'll have to watch those when i get the chance) as a suggestion i hope 7idea will do one on the durango and silverton narrow gauge railroad in the future great video with lots of action of the longest and highest narrow gauge railroad in the usa
