We will begin by visiting the Oregon Coast Scenic Railroad on the Port of Tillamook Bay line between Garibaldi and Salmonberry. Next stop is Elgin, Oregon where the Eagle Cap Excursion Train traverses the wild and scenic Joseph Branch. Heading to Elbe, Washington we visit the Mt. Rainier Scenic Railroad and see their tank engine, the Hammond Lumber Company #17 pulling excursion trains to Mineral. Returning to eastern Oregon, the Sumpter Valley Railroad hosts a photographer's special with their Mikado Number 19 and Heisler Number 3. Finally, we take a look at the former McCloud Railway in northern California as McCloud Number 18 pulls a fall photo special and plows snow. I disagree with the previous reviewer. Yes it is tourist trains, but they are operations we seldom see or hear about in the railfan media and that is its' value here. Additionally, the chapters are long enough to provide some in-depth coverage and not just "teasers". I found the SV coverage most interesting, perhaps because I knew so little about it. All segments are well done and interesting-each operation enticing you to stop by and visit. Many of us would not see these operations were it not for programs like this.

Additional remarks by TRAINMASTER:
Narration: Just enough.
Would kids enjoy this? Maybe.
Image quality: Excellent!
DVD Value:: Fair.
Recommend to others? Not unless they REALLY were interested in the subject matter.

The usual high standards of 7Idea Productions. Aaron's artist's eye and poet's heart are on full display. Nevertheless, I found this video not very interesting, more because of my tastes than anything Aaron did or didn't do. Except for the D&S and the C&TS I'm not much interested in tourist trains. I bought this disc solely because of by whom it was produced and I'll keep it for the same reason. If you are into tourist trains, buy it, you'll be very happy with it. It's almost exclusively steam. He did catch some good shots of a Heisler, one of the very few still in operation. The scenery was beautiful which can be expected considering where the videos were taken, Oregon, Washington and Northern California.
