Nickel Plate Road 2-8-4 765 Riding the New River Train DVD
In October, 1985, restored Nickel Plate Road 2-8-4 #765 made her first appearance on the famed New River Train operated out of Huntington, West Virginia, by the Collis P. Huntington Chapter of the National Railway Historical Society.
Climb aboard for a ride behind steam at speed on the mainline, as the big 1944 Lima puts on quite a show with a long train on a tough piece of railroad.
This program was shot from one of the coaches toward the front of the train, with a windproofed microphone outside the car to capture the sounds of the big 2-8-4 doing what she was designed to do.
This program was edited for the soundtrack, and to recall riding behind big steam on the mainline.
The Heritage Series features railroads as they were, from fallen flags to steam locomotives in excursion service that are no longer in operation today.
