Military Trains consists of 2 World War two era films and some miscellaneous other footage. "Troop Train" is the first film, a black and white sound film showing the creation of a special train. "Hospital Train" is a color film depicting the care wounded soldiers got and transfer from Hospital Ships to hospital trains to get them home. You will see some steam power in both films, and some neat scenes inside the trains, with soldiers and so forth. We suspect the Troop Train film was made in early 1942 and was likely being sent to the Pacific theater, perhaps Australia. In Hospital Train, you will see a Hospital Ship arrive at what looks to be a west coast port, and the train appears to be either Southern Pacific or Santa Fe. Both of these films were made by the Military in the 1940's.

In addition to these two military films, we have included a few trains shot by Greg Scholl including a neat German tank train shot in 1974, plus some other odd diesel shots in more modern times. We wrap it up with a contributors shot of a BNSF tank train in California shot in 2006. This train has tons of Abrams style tanks and even has a pusher on the rear. This was shot near Caliente, California.

There Are Good Things, & Bad Things That Nobody Notice.
Besides The Germany Train That Greg & Randy Shot In 1974, There Was 2 Diesel Shots That Are Prequels Before Other Tapes. The First One On July 22, 1989(The Day Before Shooting "Union Pacific Steam Vol.2") Was A Tank Train Hauled By 2 Diesels From The Union Pacific & The MKT At Julesburg Colorado, & The Chessie Tank Train At Leipsic Ohio On August 3, 1991(The Scene Before Shooting "Steam In Huntington", & Already Used In "Ohio Rail Diamonds". The BNSF Segment Was Shot By George Cataulin Of Left Coast Rail Videos. & Now Here's The Bad Thing. The "SP 4449: The Daylight" Trailer Was There 2 Times. One After "Memories Of Norfolk & Western 611" & AGAIN With "Southern Pacific Vintage Steam" That Was Taken From The "Southern Pacific's Overland Route" Dvd. I Just Don't Know Why Would This Happen To Anyone That Messed Up The Programs.

Additional remarks by SteamBoy:
Narration: Could have used more.
Would kids enjoy this? I doubt it.
Image quality: A little rough around the edges.
DVD Value:: Fair.
Recommend to others? Not unless they REALLY were interested in the subject matter.

I am a sucker for the vintage stuff, and this DVD has vintage stuff. I like it. The recent material (i.e. the German train and the Caliente shot) are worth watching once but the real draw would be the WWII documentaries (the jacket description is accurate, I won't repeat it here).

Additional remarks by Guy Cole:
Narration: Just enough.
Narration CAN be turned off in special features.
Would kids enjoy this? Maybe.
Image quality: Good.
DVD Value:: Fair.
Recommend to others? Yes.
