Anyone who enjoys cab rides especially LIRR fans -- will truly like this disc. The photography is clear and the excellent narration of this revenue run tells the viewer where he is at every station and junction. Even roadways that intersect the line are announced. The disc contains two videos: Penn Station to Cold Spring Harbor, and Cold Spring Harbor to Port Jefferson. For those reasons, it's intoxicatingly enjoyable and also a good value.

There are 9 LIRR cab ride DVDs made by this producer. I have them all and this is the best of the lot. If you want just one LIRR cab ride this is the one to get.

Why? First it's the only one from Penn Station, the rest start in Jamaica Queens or further out on Long Island, so they miss the busiest and most complex part of the LIRR which makes it so interesting. But if you prefer the further out stretches, part 2 of this DVD also includes the Port Jefferson branch, which is in my opinion the most scenic LIRR branch. So you get the best of both worlds in one DVD. And lastly, it was filmed from the cab of an FL-9, so you also get both pure electric and diesel modes in one DVD.

Great video of one of my favorite LIRR branches. The video was made even better by the informative narrative provided by Tim Hosey. I have seen other videos shot by him and he seems like a talented and knowledgable rail enthusiast. It is nice to have this program bring back memories of the FL9 units the rr used which pioneered the delivery of the newer de30 units.

I was always intrigued with northeastern railroading, the LIRR being one of them. Getting a chance to see it from the cab, and an F-unit at that was enough to attract me to purchase this video. I had already sampled a few RVP cab ride videos and very much enjoyed them. This was yet another.

The videography was first rate in terms of clarity/resolution and in camera placement: Just enough to let you know you're riding on an EMD "covered wagon". The narration ( which never drowns out the natural sounds ) is SUPER informative. A must have.
