Running for over 320 miles between Meridian, Mississippi and Shreveport, Louisiana is a stretch of railroad known as "The Meridian Speedway". This route was developed during the mid 1990s from the lines of the former MidSouth Railroad.

With the news of Canadian Pacific acquiring the KCS, we set out for an 8 day tour of the KCS covering many locations along the Meridian Speedway and beyond. Lots of early spring sunshine and some nice surprises, with the beautiful "Retro Belle" paint scheme dominating the trains that we filmed!

2 Hours, Narration, Dolby 5.1 Stereo, Widescreen, On-screen graphics

At the time of the videotaping of this video, another Class 1 railroad waits for the STB (USA) to makes it's decision to see if the railroad will become another "fallen flag". Like many railroads which faces the decision, many railfans who can make the trip to see the final days does so.
Here we see 320 miles (515kms in Canadian distance measurement) of what would become CPKC a year after videotaped. A number of communities along the way are highlited, the best in my opinion being Vicksburg MS. The videographer does a fine job catching other railroad power... CN, NS, UP, a CP unit, a few older KCS paint schemes & a number of shortlines that serve the region. The KCS business train makes several appearances as well to add to the variety.
The image quality is excellent as we have come to be used to in this day in age.
As a railfan who uses railroad videos to plan my next vacation, does the video spark my interest enough to want to see the region & the line covered in the program, having to drive 3,100+ kms (over 1,900 miles} one way (over 6,000 kms round trip)? .... ummmm.... not really, but I am pleased I purchased the video so I can see the region from my lazyboy. It is a good addition to my video library.
It is a good video & I will recommend it to anyone who is interested.
