Interesting video. KCS has done a fine job taking a rags railroad line and turning it into a profitable, well run line. Lots of run through trains use this line from NS & BNSF . There is interesting scenery along the way as well, something I did not expect knowing nothing about the US south. This production give you a detailed description of a very interesting railroad across Mississippi from Meridian to Vicksburg. There is a lot of traffic on this line and in addition to KCS it also features a bunch of NS trains utilizing this route. Hot intermodals share this line with locals hauling pulpwood. KCS built a new yard just outside Jackson to handle the increasing volume of goods since KCS took over this line. There are hills, tunnels and charming small towns making it at pleasure to watch trains in different environments. As to be expected from Pentrex, the technical quality is perfect. The DVD could probably have been even better if it had been edited a bit more as 110 minutes is a rather long time to watch any train DVD. This is another awesome production from Pentrex! Enjoyed this DVD, however I think Pentrex used a bit of misleading advertising by calling it a "new" DVD, as it was filmed many years ago. I've been benching trains along the "Meridian Speedway" for about eight years and this film pre-dates my first visits to Meridian. |
