Hot Spots 6 Gary Indiana - CSX Norfolk Southern and the EJ&E come toegther here DVD
★★★★★★★★★★5 of 5 (2)
Pine Junction in Gary, Indiana is our #6 hot spot, and what a hot day of railfanning we had, with 75 trains in just over 12 hours, has to be our best day yet! CSX, NS and the EJ&E all come together at Pine, plus we saw power from Conrail, UP, SP, CNW, SOO, CP, BN, BNSF, SF, South Shore and Amtrak, and the "J" has orange, green and ex DM&IR maroon. Meets, overtakings and side by sides, 4 trains at once, this really is a colorful, busy and exciting place.

Gary Indiana.... diffinately a Hot Spot. Lots of train action from many different companies, including Amtrak. There is no stopping the action here. If you want great variety... this video is for you as there are lots of meets and passing trains with an average of 6+ trains per hour. Great video.

This program covers action in Gary, IN on May 10, 2000 from 6:25 AM to 7 PM covering 13 hours of train-watching in 1 day. Most of the trains featured are from NS, CSX, Amtrak, and EJ&E. This program has extremely-little introductory narration and then none after that.
One of the highlights in this program, in my opinion, is the 11:55 AM-12:10 PM segment as 3 Amtrak trains go by in a row. One thing that could be improved is identifying the Amtrak trains in this program as many of them pass through Gary.
For those who love Amtrak, this program is highly recommended; however for those who love Amtrak Dash 8s in particular, this program is a MUST as all of the Michigan-bound Amtrak trains have a Dash 8 as motive power albeit they are all in Phase IV paint instead of the extremely famous Pepsi-Can Phase III paint.
