We spent two days at the famous over/under at Davidson Canyon, in November, 2000, when the wings were new, and in May, 2002 when they were abundant! We also caught several of the new flag paint scheme, and a number of the new flair 70M's. A special treat was a scruffy SP tunnel motor leading.

i seem to be in dissagreement with the other reviewers..this happens to be my favorite hbo video. im i big open desert railroad fan and the shots here are great, particularly close up shots peter crook is famous for..i really liked the shots from under and at an angle of the up locomotives going over the bridge...the fact that youre getting plenty of close ups of the up sd40 licomotives really keeps the interest high...

Not a great video, but better than average for this producer. It does show lots of action on the over/under, but really nothing else. Good for seeing paint schemes of the era.

Would kids enjoy this? I doubt it.
Image quality: Good.
Value: Overpriced.

Hot Spots... a railfan location of interest based on the view of the producer. The video is done at Davidson Canyon, 35 miles (57 km) from Tucson, so the name is not overly correct. While the name can be debated, the overall content is good. Plenty of trains to be seen even though it took 2 days to get enough for a 1 hour video. The scenery is likely the best part. It's an "ok" video but not much more.

This program covers two visits to the over-under in Davidson Canyon on November 30, 2000 and May 10, 2002. This is the first in the Hot Spots series to eliminate the time stamp model seen in the previous Hot Spots installments and would only be reused in Hot Spots 13-15, which I found disappointing. But one of the highlights is that on the 2000 visit, Amtrak's Sunset Limited is seen crossing over the other mainline.
