Highball Through the Heartland - The BNSF Marceline Sub DVD Highball Productions 🔍 Click to enlarge Cover image may differ from actual product
BNSF's Marceline sub between Kansas City, MO and Fort Madison, IA. BNSF & NS share tracks for 35 miles east of KC, and UP has trackage rights for plenty of variety. Lots of new "Premium Heritage" units, still a decent amount of Warbonnets, and the trains are moveing right along (mostly!) on the raceway east of KC, then through the scenic wooded hills of northern Missouri. Even caught the 4449 a couple of times, 'course it's a C44-9W! Taped in October, 1999, fall colors.

While I am not the biggest fan of Highball Productions, I will have to say they did an excellent job with Highball Through the Heartland. The camera work is great, the power mix is awesome, and many different railroads are represented through foreign power. There is more narration than any other Highball Production I have viewed but not a lot of info is presented by the narrator. The biggest negative with Highball Through the Heartland is the lack of a map. Overall, I think any Santa Fe/BNSF fan would be happy with this DVD.
Additional comments:
Narration: Could have used more.
Would kids enjoy this? Maybe.
Image quality: Good.
Value: Good value.
Recommend? Definitely.

The USA heartland is a great location for lots of trains running at speed as it is not overly hilly and runs through a great agricultural district in Missouri to Iowa. Where there are hills, the scenery is very good to see. The variety of power on this line is excellent with BNSF, NS & the UP all using it. I really enjoyed the video for the train action.... however..... the narration is not to Highball standards as we know. It did not take long to question why I purchased the video. While I did finish watching it, I will never watch it again. Sorry Highball..... this video is not a great one thanks to the narration.
Additional comments:
Would kids enjoy this? I doubt it.
Image quality: A little rough around the edges.
Value: Overpriced.
Recommend? Definitely not.
