Union Pacific's busy transcon main line between Weber Canyon, Utah and Green River, Wyoming. The SD70ACe's are out and about, and we caught the Western Pacific unit leading. Lots of C44-ACTE's are also out and about, on all kinds of trains. Bright winter conditions and some light snow and heavy UP action.

This video covers the Union Pacific's Overland route between Peterson Utah and Green River Wyoming, and covers Echo Canyon, Weber Canyon and other locations. It includes the EMD's new SD70ACe's and GE's C44ACTE's (Gevo). This video is available both in 4x3 Full Screen and 16x9 Widescreen formats. I was not paying attention when I ordered it and wound up with the full screen version instead of widescreen :-{

The video starts in the snow-covered rugged scenery of Utah and works it's way east. Early in the program, the narrator gives a brief explanation of the technical features of the C44ACTE and SD70ACe EPA Tier 2 specs. UP's Western Pacific #1983 Heritage SD70ACe is seen, and run-through power from CSX, CN, NS and other railroads appear. The trains seen include intermodal, auto rack and coal unit trains and manifest trains. There are a few meets shown.

Narration is minimal and sufficient. Peter Crook's photography is, as always, sharp and crystal clear. The audio volume is a bit lower on this DVD that most others. There is wind noise in some scenes, but it does not over power the subwoofer. I have to applaud Peter for standing out there in the cold wind for the long time it takes to shoot several trains. This old fart's arthritic joints would be threatening mutiny before the first train passed by!

Additional remarks by armchairrailfan:
Narration: Just enough.
Would kids enjoy this? I doubt it.
Image quality: Excellent!
DVD Value: Excellent Value!
Recommend to others? A "Must Have"!

I enjoyed this video. Lots of heavy trains running through very scenic land. Even in the winter, the region shows it's beauty and the trains compliment it. Good job Highball.
