Deshler is located in Northwestern Ohio on the busy east-west CSX mainline to Chicago from the east. This is former Baltimore and Ohio Railroad trackage, and includes a diamond where the double-track east-west line crosses the Toledo Subdivision which runs north-south from Cincinnati to Toledo. The abandoned passenger depot and tower, form nice backdrops at the diamond where most trains are seen during the day. Other trains take one of three connections changing directions in the process. We visit more than 11 different days between 2006 and 2009. Disc one has 2006-2007 which contains more lease units plus of course plenty of CSX, and other railroads like Union Pacific, and BNSF. In disc two among other things you will see two winter visits with some snow and ice during the shooting in Deshler. Most trains are identified, and the direction and times of day are provided with each scene on the screen. There are a great number of different types of trains and motive power. Over 120 trains are shown on the two dvd set.
You will also see some of the gatherings at Crossroads Park including 2 different cook-outs and of course loads of trains passing. On the Toledo Sub near Deshler we see color position signals which harken back to the days of the B&O. There is also a retention pond which is seen with trains reflecting and passing in all sorts of weather. There is something for everyone in this production. This is shot in full 16x9 widescreen(Standard Definition), so it will fill your wide screen TV sets. For those with regular 4:3, you can watch it letter- boxed with no problems. This is bargain priced, since one 90 minute video would normally sell for around $29.95 Someday if we decide to split these up the price will increase. For now its only $34.95 for both discs in one case. Not sold separately.

Here is one pretty much in the producer's backyard. So the scenes are shot are in various times of the year and the key point is time compression-a delightful key element in RR videos. The focus here is the CSX diamonds in Deshler and its
environs. Diamond action is always a delight to watch and hear. The narration is excellent, commercial grade, and there is some human interest too with rail fans who enjoy barbequing meats in the railfan park by the diamonds. I should mention, too, that my wife, who is not a railfan, enjoys Blue Ray productions and anything that has rr diamonds as she is intrigued by trains slamming the diamonds. She was not disappointed in this production.
