Denver and Rio Grande Western, Volume 1
1985-1987
From the high plains of Colorado's Front Range to the peaks and passes through the Rocky Mountains, the high iron of the Denver and Rio Grande Western Railroad traversed some of the most scenic areas of the United States. In this presentation, videographer Bob Rivard takes his first generation video equipment along on a journey from 1985 to 1987 to view a portion of the D&RGW's system. Included in this volume is the line from Denver to Glenwood Springs, the northern portion of Tennessee Pass and up Soldier Summit in Utah.
Tunnel Motor SD40T-2's and SD-50's are very common throughout the show hauling freight and unit coal trains up stiff grades and winding through tight canyons. Bob's camera also captures the Utah Railway lugging heavy coal trains in Utah. Locations highlighted are Moffat Tunnel, Tennessee Pass Tunnel, Belden, Minturn, Glenwood Canyon, Helper, Soldier Summit and Gilluly.
Don't miss the action that this fallen flag was known for, which was moving heavy freight over the high mountain passes in Colorado and Utah. This is the Denver and Rio Grande Western!!!
Running time 109 minutes

A great look back at the D&RGW in its glory. Lots of great scenery , mountain passes , helper action. If your a fan of D&RGW this is a nice addition , and its why I bought the video. Its as well done as any other Rio Grande videos I have , most new videos I ppurchase are Bluray so its video quality is not nearly as sharp but its still worth buying.
