"She was a 365-days-a-year railfan excursion...she was the train that behaved like a caribbean cruise ship, inviting you to loaf and look, dine and drink, with ultimate destination beside the point," * So wrote David P. Morgan, past editor of Trains Magazine in the July 1976 issue of that magazine.

This is a great video of one of the most classic trains in American Railroading as far as I am concerned I'm talking about the California Zephyr. This video follows the train for nearly the entire route. This was enjoyable from start to finish with lots of interior shots ans just enough run by shots outside to make it interesting. I was extremely impressed with the views of the Feather River canyon and I watched it about three times after I got it. I like this one and if you enjoy seeing the CZ in all her three railroad glory BUY YHIS DVD RIGHT NOW IT IS A MUST HAVE

After you watch this video, you will certainly feel like you have taken a vacation on the California Zephyr. This DVD is made up of films taken by Emery Gulash on his ride on the CZ in 1965. Emery received permission from the President of the Rio Grande to ride in the cab when the train changed motive power in RG territory, and this is a highlight of the show. The balance of the video is footage of the train and the scenery from one of the dome cars. Many trackside shots are also included in this video.
There was one aspect to this DVD that prevents it from receiving 5 stars. Unfortunately, there were no views of the train's interior. Except for some short footage of the inside of a typical dome, there was nothing on the interiors of the passenger cars, sleeping cars or diners. The narrator speaks highly of the wonderful amenities and beautiful color schemes of the train's interior, but you see virtually nothing of it. I would be surprised if Emery Gulash did not flim any of it. That aside, if you are interested in the streamliners of the 1950's or 1960's era, this video would definitely be of interest to you.

Riding the rails between Chicago & San Francisco via Denver & Salt Lake City, photographer Emery Gulash chronicled this route of 3 railroads: Chicago Burlington & Quincy with cameo clips of 4-8-4 number 5632, Rio Grande with preserved F-Unit 5771, & Western pacific through the feather river canyon.

Along the way, there is a cab ride from Denver to Salt Lake City.

Some of these clips were also used in other titles like “Trains Trains Trains for kids with K.C. Frog the puppet”, as well as Top Frog volumes 3, 4, & 7.

The music throughout the program itself is epically amazing.
