A "Head End" ride over the Southern Pacific Route. Back on board the Amtrak F40PH diesel at Sparks, Nevada, we pass the elaborate hotels and casinos of Reno. Leaving Reno, we pass spreading ranches through Tahoe National Forest and across the Sierra Nevadas. We then follow the Truckee River in California, through Donner Pass and arrive at Sacramento. The train then continues around the San Francisco Bay and arrives at Oakland, California.

Here is another Walt Berko spectacular cab ride video. This time in California. I loved this tape for two reasons; 1. for the incredible scenery of the line over Donner pass and 2. for the fact that it is over the now fallen flag railroad the Southern Pacific. In fact the only disappointing thing I found in these videos was when they ended and I had to put in the next one. This is an incredible trip on the California Zephyr and well worth seeing. Order all of the parts together so you can see it all at once.
