The Book Cliffs rise above the desert floor of eastern Utah stretching 200 miles between the Wasatch Mountains and Colorado's De Beque Canyon. The towering rock faces set the backdrop for the former Denver and Rio Grande Western's Desert Mainline, known today as Union Pacific's Green River Sub.
Running between Grand Junction, Colorado and Helper, Utah, this lesser known route is often overlooked by railfans, yet it offers great railroading action through some of the most incredible scenery you'll find anywhere!
Join 7idea Productions as we take you on an amazing journey through a land few get to see. Hike into Ruby Canyon and catch Amtrak's California Zephyr rolling beneath giant sandstone cliffs. Watch heavy coal trains climbing the grade at Thompson Cut. The scenic highlight of the trip is our tour of the thirty-seven mile Cane Creek Branch near Moab, Utah between Arches and Canyonlands National Parks. The ageless setting of the American West overshadows any train that runs through here.
Union Pacific, BNSF, Amtrak, and even the Utah Railway make an appearance as we uncover one of the best kept secret railfan locations in the west! Join us as we travel Across the Utah Desert on Union Pacific's Green River Sub.

Another 7 Idea DVD distended to be a classic. This is just a spectacular photographed DVD with vivid color and narration that is classic 7 Idea Production's so its both informative and interesting maps and graphics are excellent. The UP action is non stop on this former D&RGW main line running east of Helper Utah, everything is here from Amtrak Intermodial and Stack Trains Manifest Freights Auto Racks and Coal Trains run through's from the BNSF add to the variety and Utah Railway's coal trains with there Caterpillar MK500's put a nice touch to an already super DVD. There are three branch lines that are covered with some of the best photography 7 idea has to offer powered with everything form good old EMD GPs and SD40-2's to GE Gevo's. Defiantly a "Must Have"

I bought this DVD to saw the real landscape (I´m a MS-Trainsimmer and ran UP Green River in virtual world). Like the Bentsen sad, this is unexplored amazing railroad line. The scenics spots are very well covered and also, all of this with a Seven Idea Productions quality!

7idea just keeps getting better. I was spellbound by the scenery in this little known area of the US, superbly depicted in this marvelous Bluray. Very highly recommended.

7Idea definitely has mastered producing top notch Blu-Ray productions. This production completes their coverage of the entire ex Rio Grande line from Denver to the Salt Lake Valley. For this production, as they pointed out early on, the setting and scenery is stunning and quite frequently overwhelms the railroad content. By their own admission the line is often overlooked for rail fanning because of remoteness but also slowness. But they were patient and diligent to work the line and capture the shots needed to build a sequential flow of the line. 7Idea has no problems shooting rail lines in different seasons and the contrast as they moved subject west in the production is noticeable and enjoyable. It is one of their signature style features now.
The tonnage on this line is mostly coal but there are some manifests plus the
BNSF has built a significant business along the line.
The Cane Creek line sidebar sequence is truly amazing and it is there that they got the through-the-arch cover shot.
This is a production that has been enjoyed multiple times already and will be pulled out regularly from my library.
