Philadelphia’s Market-Frankford line is the backbone of the public transport system in that city. Continuously evolving since 1907. This program takes you from one end to the other and acquaints you with the development of the line. The cars featured in this program were built in 1961 by the Edward G Budd Company of Philadelphia and served the line until 1999. While noisy and uncomfortable, they were both fast and efficient. The elevated structure built directly over city streets is somewhat unique to the Eastern United States. This give us a birds-eye view of this aging and historic industrial metropolis. This program also visits the many connecting rail lines and stations adjacent to the Market-Frankford as our journey takes us from 69th Street to the Bridge-Pratt terminus in Northeast Philadelphia.
