Review of Ferrovias Guatemala A Farewell Look - How Corruption Killed a Railroad DVD


"Lesivo" (Spanish: "Harmful") was the word which ended a dream. On August 25, 2006, the government of Guatemala issued an order of "Lesividad", declaring the Railway to be in effect "harmful to the national interest". As reported by the Wall Street Journal and elsewhere, the case was to be resolved by the first-ever binding arbitration under the provisions of CAFTA (Central American Free Trade Agreement). Ferrovias Guatemala struggled for some time to maintain operations, but the inevitable end came in September 2007. Here you will ride aboard some of the final freights, as heavy rains create rivers along the right of way. Employees and shippers offer their perspectives. Will the rails see use once more, or is this indeed the final chapter for railroading in Guatemala? How would you rate the VALUE of this video? Overpriced for the amount of enjoyment I got out of it.
Seemed a little high, but not too bad.
