Milwaukee Road and Soo Line heritage are still well represented on the Canadian Pacific's "new" route around Chicago. It's 1996 and the railroad world is a very different place than today. More colorful, more traffic and more railroad names and colors. In this throw back, we find CP/Soo trains at Franklin Park, Tower B12, Bensenville, Tower 17, Bryn Mawr Jct, Norma Jct, Deval Tower, Techny Jct, State Line, the Belt Railway of Chicago and the Des Plaines River crossing in Des Plaines. We'll see mainline trains and locals, yard jobs and transfers. There is a lot of colorful action here!
Please note: This is a wonderful look at an important time in our railroad history, especially for the soon-to-be-gone Soo Line, however this was shot on less than ideal equipment in the late 1990's. Do not expect high-def video. These scenes are no longer available to us railfans and the narration is a great look at railroad operations.
