The Western Maryland Railway was famous for its huge steam locomotive, F-unit diesels, and spectacular scenery. This nostalgic full-color portrait of the line in its heyday offers all three in abundance.

The program opens with an exciting showcase of steam on the Elkins branch, featuring trains with as many as seven steam locomotives, including the massive 2-8-0s, 2-10-2s and 4-6-6-4 Challengers that muscled tonnage over the mountains.

Diesel power is represented by a parade of F-units hauling freight from Cumberland to Connellsville. Many famous WM locations are visited, including Salisbury Viaduct, Deal, Helmstetter's Curve and the Cumberland Narrows. A portion of this line is now operated by the Western Maryland Scenic Railway tourist line.

30 Minutes *DVD* Full Color * Synchronized Sound
Produced by Marc S.
