The Pennsylvania Railroad main lines passed through the towns of South Fork and Johnstown, PA. Johnstown was the home of Bethlehem Steel. Located at the junction of the Little Conemaugh and Stoneycreek rivers, it is most famous for it's devastating floods. At South Fork, a coal branch ran south through nearly inaccessible territory. Conrail ran the trains at the time of this video where we visit South Fork, Inside "C" tower, Conpit Junction and the private Conemaugh and Black Lick RR, which services the mills. See the Johnstown Inclined Plane, with its 71 degree grade, the world's steepest vehicular inclined plane. Today the Norfolk Southern owns the line with 50+ trains per day.
