This program is a great companion to our DM&IR Yellowstones-Giants of Steam. It has many things in it not seen in the other, which makes both videos great to own. The new DM&IR Steam Variety has many scenes of Proctor Engine terminal as well as Two Harbors terminal. Yes, there is plenty of 2-8-8-4 Yellowstone footage, and besides the ore hauling, we see them performing ore-thawing service, and in some late steam-era excursion service as well. Besides the big Yellowstones we also see a variety of other DM&IR steam engines including switching duties with ex-Bessemer engines and DM&IR power. We will see the well-proportioned 2-10-4's and other locos moving about the yard areas too.
This footage is all 16mm film originals, and shot by Perry Becker of Minnesota. We have also included a few minutes of the nearby shortline Duluth and Northeastern Railway, that was shot by Maynard Laing during the same period as the Becker Films. All of the films have sound added by us. |
