Pennsy built the largest yard on it's system and in the country. The other three PRR yards were at Harrisburg; Altoona and Enola. Located 25 miles northwest of Pittsburgh, Conway Yard covers more than 500 acres with over a 150 'Miles of trackage. Today the yard is under the Norfolk Southern control, but during the Conrail reign, Chester Kamuda was able to obtain free access to the yard and interlockings. At the west end, Rochester Interlocking controls access to the yard from the Ft. Wayne and Cleveland lines. On the east end is the interlocking at Leets. These two interlockings control 50+ trains daily passing through the yard.
