"Baldwin Diesels" is a 2 show combo: "Early Baldwin Diesels on the Southern Pacific" and "California's Baldwin Diesels". See action on the SP, Trona, Amador Central and the Sierra Railroad.
We begin with the Early Diesels: The Early 1950's were good years for the Baldwin Locomotive Works and the Southern Pacific. Both companies were at their zenith, and SP was replacing its steam fleet with diesels - including a variety of Baldwins - which kept Baldwin busy producing the new locomotives. The SP purchased switchers, AS-616 and DRS-6-6-1500/1 units - and all will be seen here.
We follow that up with some of the last Baldwin diesels to run. In the 1990s, first-generation diesels that remain in operation are a diminishing group. In an effort to preserve the memory of these unique machines, this program captures these Baldwin diesel locomotives on three different California shortline railroads - Trona, Amador Central and the Sierra Railroads.
