Classic locomotives and exciting railroad action in and around the Twin Ports of Duluth, Minnesota and Superior, Wisconsin. Plenty of great smoke, steam and cinders are portrayed on the newly restored Soo Line 2-8-2 #1003. The scenes were shot on two frigid November days in 1996 during the 1003's break-in run between Duluth and Two Harbors, Minnesota. The Duluth & Northern Minnesota #14, a 2-8-2, is seen pulling a tourist train on the NSSR line along the rocky northshore of Lake Superior from Duluth to the DM&IR yard and depot at Two Harbors. Soo Line FP7 #2500 is seen leading the D&NM #14 with a train heading south out of Superior for Rhinelander, Wisconsin. The 2-8-2 and FP7 are then seen doubleheading a Soo Line Historical Society fan trip between Prentice and Rhinelander. Operating out of the Lake Superior Museum of Transportation at the Duluth Union Depot is a street trolley, the Great Northern ??????Hustle Muscle?????? #400 and a RDC Budd Car which travels 25 miles over the North |
