Toy Trains & Christmas Part 1
Toy trains have been synonymous with Christmas ever since a crudely built toy locomotive was placed under some lucky kid's Christmas tree in the mid-1800s. (55 minutes.)
And that's what this video is about - Christmas and toy trains. You will see elaborate Christmas layouts featuring Lionel, American Flyer, Ives and Marx toy trains. You will visit the Christmas layout at the Henry Ford Museum, tour displays featuring Department 56 buildings, the Christmas layout at the Hancock Building in Chicago and the $36,000 layout featured on the cover of Hammachers Schlemmer's Christmas catalog.
There's also a fun Christmas layout starring Santa, Mickey and Pinocchio handcars plus the Mickey Mouse Circus Train. We also visit the Christmas layout at the Lionel Visitors Center and los of other Christmas layouts, both big and small. Rail action includes trains and accessories from every era and almost every manufacturer.
Mixed throughout is happy Christmas music, some original, some traditional and some old favorites with new lyrics.
This is truly a marvelous video for anyone who loves toy trains and Christmas.
Toy Trains & Christmas Part 2
Angela Thomas, the Georgia O'Keefe of toy trains, has created a marvelous Christmas layout as part of her 50s style hobby shop/train room. Highlights include Lionel trains and accessories, Dept. 56 Snow Village vignettes, and life-size mural painted by Angela. Angela talks about her paintings and layout - both of which capture perfectly the joys of toy trains and Christmas. Oh, by the way, Angela's husband Bob helped too.
Terry Dyer's S-gauge Christmas layout combines American Flyer trains and accessories with Dept. 56 and Plasticville buildings. Great winter scenery, a scratch-built roundhouse and lots of AF postwar legends dashing through the snow.
Also included is more original Christmas music by Jim Coffey, the star of the first Toy Trains & Christmas. Jim's music is combined with Lionel trains operating on gorgeous Christmas layouts.

The 'Toy Trains & Christmas Parts 1 2 3' video , is an absolute must have to add to ones library. It is just marvelous to watch alone , or with a grandchild. I really enjoyed the video as it had taken me back to when I was a child playing with my Father's train layouts during the Christmas seasons.

this dvd is as well as tms other Christmas dvds are perfect for the holiday season showing how toy trains were the number 1 present that kids wanted instead of the stuff we receive today

In part 1 from 1997 which ran for 45 minutes, the prototype version of the magical Christmas train is shown with the silver painted version of the union Pacific city of denver that was designed by American flyer in the late 30s. Then Jim also sings I wanna choo choo train which was also used in part 5 of the toy train revue reboot. After the Jim Coffey songs, the first layout is the Hancock building in Chicago. Everybody from the area and other states really popped their eyes to witness an all G scale layout. An interview with Elaine sillets who she also appeared in toy train revue part 6 or 7 is included. A local news camera crew films the layout. One of Elaine's layouts was shown on the hammacher schlemmer catalog. After that, Jim sings up on the housetop with Mickey mouse and his other disney friends, plus he sings the toonerville trolley. With the 2 songs completed, the tmbv crew heads for a visit to James & Debbie Flynn's all Marx layout in Elmhurst Illinois. Decades ago, Marx trains were very affordable to buy at really great low prices than lionel and American flyer. James has the prototype version of the Green Chicago subway L line set. One of the prized possessed Marx items is the moon Mullins & kayo handcar. Afterwards Jim Coffey sings we wish you a merry Christmas. Some scenes from this song in this video was also used in the 1997 editing of I love toy trains part 1 because of the showroom layout. Next, an unknown man sings deck the halls. Afterwards, a revisit to Dave petrowski who he was shown in the magic of lionel part 3 is included. Most of the time, Dave is an officer for the Rosemont Illinois police department. In this program, Dave's layout has department 56 buildings and Greenfield village kits which replaced the lionel accessories and plasticville kits. He also added a wooden bridge to the elevated portion of the layout. He also has talking ornaments, which includes the moon landing of Neil armstrong. After that, Jim sings Santa Claus is coming to town. This song was also used on I love Christmas from 1996. Plus he also sings jingle and with railroad words. After the 2 songs, the next layout is courtesy of Harold and Carol bonus. They have plenty of different villages all over the lionel layout. Before the closing credits, Jim sings o Christmas train instead of o Christmas tree. Then he reprises we wish you a merry Christmas in the closing credits. This concludes part 1.
In part 2 from 1998 which ran for 56 minutes, the magical Christmas train features a lionel legend: the Santa Fe F-3 in warbonet colors. Plus There is a visit with artist Angela trotta thomas, and the Terry dyer segment was eventually reused on fun and thrills with American flyer part 2 from 2001. This tmbv video also has one more train which was used in their other shows: such as I love toy trains oh no from 2002, a Lionel Christmas part 2 from 2010, and the toy train revue reboot part 4 from 2014. Jim also sang his version of the 12 days of Christmas. His version was also shown on the toy train revue reboot part 4 where at the same time, Joe stachler talks about the lionel ornaments by hallmark. Bill Kearn from toy trains and Christmas part 3, also also sang his song. Oh and also on the angela segment, there is a short silent home movie of a Marx train set. There is also some mentions of rock and roll star Neil young. Plus there are a few black and white commercials from the 50s. Jim also sings there's nothing like toy trains and Christmas. Which was also used in i love Christmas from 1996.
In part 3 from 1999 which ran for 53 minutes, the magical Christmas train is the American flyer mayflower shortly before the great depression. The songs on part 3 includes: Christmas trolley all aboard the North pole express with a Marx set, here comes Santa's train, and an instrumental version of silent night. Plus Bill sings snowy village. And There is a train layout located inside a glass window shanty. Plus David shamburger also remembered his own toy train Christmas memories.
Overall, this is a really good 3 in 1 combo for all to enjoy again and again.

Watched it once, gave it to my brother, wasn't what I thought it would be. A little too childish and the music was terrible. Sorry
