The narration covered well the history of each of the locomotives, and if that is what you were interested in, it was done well. But otherwise it was just one run-by after another run-by. Price charged for only 36 minutes was excessive, way too much!

The segments shown in part 1 of this 2 part series that was originally released in 1992 with commentary by Mr. Jim Bistline are: Southern railway 2-8-2 number 4501 built by Baldwin in 1911 from Roanoke to Bluefield Virginia in 1970 with a cab ride, tons of helicopter scenes from the sky, & some meets with diesels, Texas & Pacific 2-10-4 number 610 built in Lima Ohio in 1927 on a test run from Fort Worth to Wichita Falls Texas in 1976 (on-screen chyron text says 1974 for some reason) on the Fort Worth & Denver City Railway which the tracks were originally from the Burlington Route as the engine is getting some Back-Up from Burlington Northern 815 while carrying boxcars complete with a caboose, operating the American Freedom Train from Houston to Fort Worth a few months later while being assisted by Santa Fe 5704 as the diesel is thankfully preserved & it is owned by the Orange Empire Railway Museum in Southern California with Amtrak’s Texas Eagle, & The 1977 National Railway Historical Society with 4501 & 610 operating on both solo trips & even Double-Headers which inevitably enough, the late Greg Scholl was also there as his angles were shown in the 2021 DVD: Southern Steam In The 1970s. A mix of authentic sounds, & some disco music was played for this segment. Today 4501 is still operating at the Tennessee Valley Railroad Museum in Chattanooga, while 610 is still standing silent at the Texas State Railroad.
