On the weekend of November 1st and 2nd, 2008, the Pacific Locomotive Association and the Northern California Railroad Club sponsored a pair of excursions on the Yreka Western and the McCloud Railway.
On Saturday, Yreka Western 2-8-2 No. 19 pulled a mixed train over the entire length of the railroad from Yreka to Montague and back. Joining No. 19 was ex-Southern Pacific SW8 No. 21, a rare diesel switcher with dynamic brakes!
On Sunday, McCloud 2-6-2 No. 25 pulled what was to be the last excursion over the Hambone Line, which was in the process of being abandoned.
No. 25 was purchased new in 1925 and has spent its entire working life on the McCloud. With No. 25 up for sale in late 2008, this was likely its last run as a McCloud locomotive.

As TSG Were the only video producers to visit northern California During the time of this production, All was soon gone with the ghosts or scrapping historic legends forever, as tourist trains on Both the Yreka Western, & the McCloud railroad are out of business forever.
