Cab rides are always very interesting. To see the tracks as the head end crew sees it is a trill in most cases. Watching Part # 1 of "Cab Ride from Kansas City to Chicago", I found it to be disappointing. The train departs Kansas City in the morning, and being shot in February, the sun rise has only just taken place, giving many shadows and poor lighing conditions for the 1st hour of the video. I actually changed the settings on my DVD player to brighten in up during this time. Then had to set it back to normal after over an hour, but still could have left the player a bit brighter. And, being shot in February, there is very little colour to the landscape. Everything is a dull brown. It would have been a much finer presentation had it been done 3 months later. The camera is in a fixed location, which does not allow it to follow something of interest. Narration is limited, very limited. So often, the viewer knows little about where the train actually is. To compensate for this is the engine crew chatting, which is good, but not always imformative. Although interesting in it's own way with a few laughs along the way, it is not overly exciting at times. I think the best parts was "meets" with freights, and watching them glide by at speed. If You really like cab rides, You may enjoy this video. I was not overly impressed with it and really do not plan on recommending it.
Additional comments:
Narration: Could have used more.
Would kids enjoy this? I doubt it.
Image quality: Poor.
Value: Overpriced.
Recommend? Only if really interested.
